Eating Disorder Therapy for Vegans & Vegetarians
Your values matter. So does your recovery.
Not a Food Rule
You may have encountered providers who immediately question your dietary choices, assume your veganism or vegetarianism is part of your eating disorder, or struggle to understand why these values matter so much to you. These questions deserve more than a one-size-fits-all answer. As a vegan myself, I am an expert at navigating this dynamic (without allowing an eating disorder to call the shots).

Distinguishing Values from the Disorder
Veganism and vegetarianism are not inherently disordered. At the same time, eating disorders can sometimes become intertwined with sincerely held ethical beliefs, making the relationship between values, food choices, and recovery especially complex. My goal isn't to make assumptions about your choices. It's to help you explore your relationship with food honestly and compassionately, while taking both your recovery needs and your personal values seriously.
